I’m 5 months older than Jeremy but I feel much older, I envy his energy. He doesn’t follow me on Twitter/X but his brother Piers does – he came close to being blocked by me for being rude in a way that Jeremy would not approve of. We can’t all satisfy Jeremy’s high standards of conduct, but we try despite much provocation. I used to have what I call ‘Pinafore Moments’, I hardly ever swear, but I find myself doing so more frequently lately. It seems the only appropriate response when reason is lost on people who aren’t listening (and definitely aren’t reading this blog).

It’s 5 years since Jeremy was leader of what was the Labour Party, his opponents are so obsessed that they can’t stop themselves parroting the same old tropes. I’m continually asking what they’re afraid of but Jeremy provided the answer himself.

It’s not Jeremy they’re afraid of it’s us!

Jeremy’s supporters are frequently dismissed as a ‘cult’ but our opponents better fit that description. We’re not afraid to criticise Jeremy when he’s wrong, we don’t slavishly hang on his every word as we’re accused of doing. We’re capable of thinking for ourselves, and Jeremy articulates our views. Those with a hive mentality can’t accept that.

Is Jeremy “the best Prime Minister we never had”? Perhaps not, but vested interests in the status quo ensured he never had a chance. I’m pleased that he’s standing as an independent in Islington North and I’m confident that he’ll win. The dismissive and derogatory tweets appearing on my timeline indicate to me that he has the Starmeroids worried, they forget that his constituents have elected him continually for 40 years but were denied the right to select a Labour candidate of their own choice this time. He’s standing as an independent to give them a choice, not out of personal ambition as his opponents claim. That’s what makes him a many times better leader than Starmer.

Those who said, when he was leader of the opposition (when we had an opposition), that he couldn’t win a general election ensured it was a self-fulfilling prophecy. They’re gonna try it again, expect dirty tricks ahead!
