Bluesky vs X Reviewed

Just a short blog this week although I have more in the pipeline.

I’ve decided to unlock my X account and start posting again, although I don’t encourage knew followers. I find it convenient to share something to X so I can copy it and post to Bluesky, it would require no more effort to post to X. I have around 10x as many followers on X and, although I don’t care much about numbers, it’s not something I can dismiss lightly. More important is that I have many comrades who have not yet, as far as I’m aware, migrated to Bluesky.

I haven’t changed my opinion of those who would like us to boycott X because of Musk’s far-right stance, they’re inviting us to cut off our noses to spite our faces and don’t see the irony of using X to tell us not to use it 🙄 Until we can establish a network on another platform we have no choice but to continue as we have been doing, although I have cancelled my Premium subscription which is paid up until June. I’ve invited comrades to join me on Bluesky but I’m not about to abandon those who haven’t yet decided to make the move. For those who do decide to join me there however, I’ve provided a list of comrades who will welcome you https://go.bsky.app/PNyNcDW

Bluesky is far from perfect, there are several things I dislike about it, but X is getting much worse! Protecting my posts didn’t protect me from being exposed to crap posts from Keir Starmer, David Lammy and Musk himself whenever I used the app – I had to block each of them! It’s clearly a case of swings and roundabouts, I wanna get off but can’t 🙁

  1. Thank you Mike, I refuse to be intimidated by Musk, Twitter was our platform and I am not being pushed of it. There have always been far right people on Twitter as there are on BlueSky. I am on both platforms but Twitter will always feel like home to me, it is where I first met so many good comrades. Solidarity.
