I was writing a blog that I intended posting on #SocialistSunday but I’ve summat to say that can’t wait. Here are some arguments to use against those who need to hear them but wouldn’t normally read my blog.
To those who think that marching on Armistice Day, when we commemorate the end of “The War to End Wars”, is disrespectful of those who died in that war – and all subsequent wars – I can think of no greater respect for them than a call for peace! It’s been proven throughout history that war isn’t stopped by more war!
Those who want to remember those who died in a senseless war over a century ago and ignore those dying in Palestine right now can still do so. The 2 Minutes Silence is observed at 11th hour, of the 11th hour, of the 11th month. The march won’t start until an hour later and, as far as I’m aware, won’t go anywhere near the Cenotaph.
I can think of know better way to celebrate a ceasefire that ended an ancient war than to demand a ceasefire for one that’s ongoing, if you can call it a war when two sides are far from equal!
Solidarity to Jeremy Corbyn, Matt Wrack, Mick Lynch and all others who WILL be marching in defiance of Suella Braverman’s obnoxious objections ✊
A video I came across after publishing this blog.

Yes, and it is also worth remembering that Palestinian battalions fought alongside the Allies in WW2. I would only wear a white poppy.

Very well put Mike, there is no better way of remembering the war dead than to say no to all war.
