Dear Jeremy…

I don’t know how you maintain your composure amidst the barrage of attacks both in mainstream and social media even though it’s nearly four years since you were leader of the Labour Party. You told us why they do it:

It’s not me they’re afraid of it’s you!

And they’re right to be concerned! I think history will proclaim you the last leader of the Labour Party, Keir Starmer is no leader and the party is falling apart under his watch! If you, Diane and others who are currently sitting as independents were to stand in the constituencies you’ve served for so many years I believe you would win. I don’t hold with those who say we need to vote Labour to get the Tories out, under your leadership it we could hope for real change but:

The Labour Party you worked for all your life is now on life support, and those who think it can be resuscitated are mistaken. It’s over! I’m very disappointed with the Socialist Campaign Group, including your old friend John McDonnell, who seem more concerned with their own careers than standing up for their principles. They should have resigned years ago instead of hanging on until Starmer boots them out, as he assuredly will.

I told John McDonnell this:

They came for Jackie Walker and Marc Wadsworth and you didn’t speak.
They came for Chis Williamson and you didn’t speak.
They came for Jeremy Corbyn and you STILL didn’t speak.
Who’ll be left to speak when they come for you John?

I’m very disappointed with John, he’s younger than you but the fire seems to have gone out. I’m even more disappointed with Richard Burgon, for whom I had I hopes since he entered parliament under the tutetutelage of Dennis Skinner as well as being MP for a neighbouring constituency to the one I’m in – which was until this year a safe Tory seat – but he too has chosen to cringe before the rich man’s frown.

We don’t yet have a socialist party capable of winning enough seats to form a government, Labour will probably win by default, but what we can do is take away enough seats from each of the three major parties that none of them is capable of governing without major concessions to smaller parties and independents.

If I were bold enough to make a prediction it would be that Labour would lose its remaining Scottish seats in Westminster, Greens will gain a few seats in England despite Caroline Lucas retiring, those ex-Labour MPs disbarred from standing in their constituencies would be likely to win if they stand as independents.

I really can’t understand why anyone can be opposed to Peace and Justice but there seem to be an awful lot of them! I find it difficult, when reading responses to some of your tweets, to refrain from replying with language you would never use yourself. I don’t know where you maintain your equanimity, or find the energy to do what you do. But please keep on doing it ✊

  1. I don’t know how he does it either but I think socialism is a fight that is never won, it is an ongoing battle that he will fight til his last breath, for it is bigger than any party or any man. And an ideology that can never be killed or die because it is in our hearts.

      1. Sometimes it is good to express your thoughts in words, I think it is a way of putting mine in order or seeing their faults as mine can often be muddled. x
