You’ld think it unbelievable that Israel can murder Palestinian journalists daily to prevent us from hearing the truth of what’s happening in Gaza while they’re shouting it from the rooftops, but Western politicians and media have shown themselves capable of holding two contradictory opinions simultaneously.
It’s not just that the truth is being suppressed but that it’s being turned on its head, dissenting voices are not only being silenced but the language is being changed so as to make dissent impossible! We’re familiar with Suella Braverman’s characterisation of peace marches as “hate marches”, but it goes way beyond that. The US Congress has passed a motion that conflates anti-Zionism with antisemitism, a decision that many (most?) Jews would consider to itself be antisemitic.
The consequence is that a student of any faith who expresses support for Palestine can be denied an education, and an academic can be dismissed from their post for failure to support the genocide that Israeli politicians insist they are not inflicting on Palestinians while simultaneously boasting that they’re doing so.
Here are some of the ridiculous ideas we’re expected to believe:
- Genocide is what Hamas would like to do to Israelis, not what Israel is actually doing to Palestinians.
- Israel has a right to defend itself, even against babes unborn and those already dead (the IDF has started bulldozing cemeteries presumably because they think those they’ve murdered might rise again to seek revenge.)
- Israel is the only democracy in the Middle East
- We can’t be accused of genocide against Palestinians because they don’t exist – we’re exterminating vermin
- Greater Israel is the land promised to us by God (aka Lord Balfour) and we have a divine right to dispossess any current inhabitants of the land, just our ancestors did when they came out of Egypt several millennia ago.
- Well stop killing civilians if Hamas release hostages, but we’ll kill the hostages anyway.
- We’ll release 10 Palestinian detainees in exchange for each Israeli hostage, but we’ll detain 12 more.
Un-fucking-believable, but this is the garbage that our lords and masters expect us to swallow 😠
Self-proclaimed “free speech absolutist” Elon Musk doesn’t only want to control everything said on X (formerly Twitter), he wants to charge us for doing so. He’s declared that our accounts can be suspended if we use such naughty words as “From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free”, as it implies a call for genocide of Israelis. “From the river to the sea, Palestinians will be dead ”, which is an explicit call for genocide is presumably OK.
I’ve chosen to invest in a blue tick, which gives me a few extra features, but I’ld need to pay more to get rid of the adverts we’re being bombarded with since Musk took over. Whenever I switch to the X/Twitter app I’m taken to the For You tab, which is mostly stuff Elon mistakenly thinks I might be interested in. If I am interested in a tweet it will disappear before I have chance to read it, and I’ve no idea why he thinks I would be interested in what’s trending in the Netherlands. 🙄
I just reported a tweet that appeared on my timeline by “Tommy Robinson” for hate speech but he’s got away with it so many times in the past that he thinks he’s invincible. I’m more likely to be blocked for using a few naughty words than he is for spewing forth his venom 😠 I was more successful with another vile tweet that I reported and got the following reply:
We have reviewed the account you reported and have actioned it accordingly because we found it to be in violation of the X Rules.
I’ve started winding down my regular tweets and started posting more to Facebook and Mastodon (you can find links to these accounts in my Twitter profile) but they’re not without their problems and I have too many followers on Twitter to immediately switch to another platform. Comrades are welcome to follow my secondary Twitter account @MikeSherburn48, it’s a locked account so you might have to wait awhile for me to accept a follower request but you won’t be missing anything. I rarely use it, it’s there mainly so I have summat to fall back on if I say summat that Elon doesn’t like 😀
Finally, I’ld like to invite all comrades to subscribe to this blog, it costs nowt but means a lot to me. There is a possibility that I might produce more than one blog a week and by subscribing you’ll get a notification whenever I publish a new one, even if I can’t post to Twitter/X.
Thank you, Mike, your list of things we are expected to accept about the genocide in Palestine and the antisemitism card being used is so true! They must think we are all fools.

The time has come for us all to admit that the world is controlled by money and the media Politicians of all persuasions do what they are told. Want to keep your job? Then toe the line.
Both Israel and the Ukraine are tools of America, if successful in their current endeavors, the next target will be China.
Nothing ever changes in our world, this is all about control, there is no war without weapons and who provides the weapons?
