Our Party

I’ve just added my name to the list of people signing up to the new socialist party started by Jeremy Corbyn and donated £10. This does not commit me to joining the party when it is registered but it does allow me to say that it’s our party, not a Corbyn/Sultana party! Jeremy has been at pains to get this idea across. The establishment are starting to see the writing on the wall and it’s got them rattled!

Rachel Reeves is forecasting that the new party fail, but the same people who predicted that Labour couldn’t win an election under Jeremy’s did their utmost to ensure that their prediction was fulfilled – and they succeeded in giving us more years of Tory misrule! Now they want to do it again by passing the baton to Reform!

I have my own reservations about Jeremy’s leadership, he was too apologetic when trying to appease critics who refused to be appeased, but he was working within a paradigm that persecutes dissent when what is needed is to change the paradigm!

Here are some extracts from some private correspondence I’ve had with Chris Williamson when I invited his input:

Everybody expected him to change the paradigm. He even said he was going to make changes in his acceptance speech when he was elected in 2015…

But better late than never, although he’s still ignoring my offer to collaborate, which I made when Zarah Sultana made the announcement, which was apparently done without his approval.

Hopefully, we can find a way forward.  The political committee of the WPB agreed last night to instruct the general secretary to register the WPB’s interest in either affiliating to or negotiating an electoral agreement with ‘Your Party’. Let’s hope this is met with a positive response!

Craig Murray also thinks that “Jeremy has been wrong in pointedly excluding George from the consultation meetings on setting up the new party.” He nevertheless advises Workers Party members in England to sign up to the new party, there are other factors to be considered in the devolved nations. It’s worth sharing Craig’s article in full rather than attempting to summarise it. https://www.craigmurray.org.uk/archives/2025/08/your-party-working-title/

Beth Winter has posted a statement inviting support for the new party in Wales

Some people doubt Jeremy’s ability to maintain strict discipline in the party, they fail to understand that Jeremy has a different understanding of leadership than they do. They also forget that his Co-leader of the new party is an outspoken young woman who will not accept any bullshit!

Too many people, both supporters and opponents, are focused on winning a general election in four years time instead of what a new party can achieve in the meantime. They will start with six MPs, more than Greens or Reform, and can expect to gain more. I frankly don’t understand why John McDonnell an Diane Abbot haven’t committed themselves yet, it’s highly unlikely that the Labour whip will be restored

I’ve seen some right-wing twunts signing up in the mistaken belief that their numbers will be counted among those genuinely signing up, as if the team didn’t do due diligence to sort out fake email addresses 🙄

It’s difficult to add anything to what Red Glasgow says in this video, he’s spot on as usual, but I’ll continue to share my views in my own voice. They Don’t Have A Clue! https://youtu.be/QKPmu_5WI-Y?si=jHhJeEK0UjzXBINH

Plenty of people are sceptical about Owen Jones and James Schneider having too much influence in the new party, and I don’t blame them! Owen has been somewhat of a windmill in the past, I’m not sure I could trust him as a signpost to the future. I don’t know enough about James Schneider to pass judgement. What we do need to be aware of is the possibility of people infiltrating the party in order to undermine it – just as we were accused of doing when we joined the Labour Party (I joined on the day Jeremy was elected leader).

Why did Labour’s left leaders buy into Israel’s lies? https://electronicintifada.net/content/why-did-labours-left-leaders-buy-israels-lies/36876

Chris Williamson sent me an article written in 2022 by someone who worked with Schneider in Jeremy’s office as Leader of the Opposition, it also contains a link to an article by Chris himself for those who want some further reading.

I support the campaign for Proportional Representation but we’re not likely to get it before the next General Election, and only then with the combined efforts of smaller parties demanding it – and yes, this includes Reform who have their own agenda! I utterly reject the notion that a new party of the left will hand electoral victory to Farage, Starmer doesn’t require any assistance in that respect. Like it or not, Jeremy and Zarah are offering us a real alternative.

Jeremy is not the Messiah, I doubt if anyone seriously thought he was, but he is a source of inspiration. Grace Blakeley is quite correct when she says No One Is Coming To Save Us https://open.substack.com/pub/graceblakeley/p/no-one-is-coming-to-save-you?r=jitam Not Jeremy, and definitely not Farage! Jeremy offers hope, peace and justice – who in their right mind could possibly say “No thanks, I don’t want any of those things”?

I’m encouraged by the knowledge that Len McCluskey and Mick Lynch are supporting the new party, regardless of what the unions they formerly led. I understand that there are discussions within unions about disaffiliating with Labour, but that need not translate to affiliation with a new party that’s not yet established. It does however toll the death knell of the Labour Party and I can confidently predict that Cur Starmer won’t have a seat in parliament after the next general election.

Audrey White, who was recently assaulted by Starmtroopers and is currently under house arrest, had this to say on X. https://x.com/redrosa91940184/status/1953716115323994594?s=61&t=IZiTSaiaMOgVGPIMX2DC_Q

I don’t know if I’ve managed to persuade anyone else to support the new party but I’ve gone a long way to persuading myself that it’s worth committing to. If I commit to something I do it wholeheartedly or I don’t do it at all, but the new party is yet to be established!

  1. Thank you for sharing your thoughts on the new party Mike. I think the temporary name of Your Party was brilliant, it was a slap on the face of Starmer’s ‘My Party’. Every time he said it I bristled! I agree with you about Owen Jones, I would never trust him , he is a two faced little s. Sorry for that I couldn’t think of a better word. Solidarity. x
