Mike’s Diary – December 2025

30 November 2025

I’ve been saying for awhile that I’ld like to collaborate with others, and I’ve just recalled two cases where I actually have! Perhaps I should stop trying and just let it happen 🤔 I’m unable to co-ordinate things because recent legislation prevents me from sharing my personal details privately without confirmation of age, unless I use a VPN .

1 December 2025

Chris Williamson has just returned from Jersey where he witnessed the opening stages of the trial of Natalie Strecker on terrorism’ charges. Although Jersey is a self-governing dependency of the United Kingdom with its own judiciary, the UK government has sent a KC to advise the prosecutor. One disturbing piece of advice is that international law can be ignored.

Just had an invoice via email for purchase of bitcoin. I’ve never made such a purchase and my bank would ask for confirmation if I had. I never respond to these emails, they’re phishing! Likewise with messages offering to pay millions into my bank account but need the details. If it sounds too good to be true, it is!

2 December 2025

Together Alliance – a new coalition of over 50+ campaigns organisations and civil society groups – launched today. I’ve joined scores of politicians and celebrities in signing the statement to oppose the rise of the far right. You can see which familiar names have signed, and add your own name, here: https://www.togetheralliance.org.uk/statement?link_id=3&can_id=a6d633b9f279388dcfdec25321211137&source=email-claim-a-free-ticket-to-the-latin-america-adelante-conference-2026-with-gftu&email_referrer=email_2999306&email_subject=_-stand-against-the-far-right&&

Despite the the UK Government’s attempt to influence the court in Jersey, Natalie Strecker has been found Not Guilty of terrorism ✊

4 December 2025

The government has just announced the appointment of a new Democracy Minister. I don’t think Labour knows what democracy is, but it sounds like something we ought to have.

5 December 2025

Israel will be allowed to compete in Eurovision next year despite four countries withdrawing: Netherlands 🇳🇱 Ireland 🇮🇪 Slovenian 🇸🇮 and Spain 🇪🇸 The committee said it wouldn’t make a decision based on political concerns, then they went ahead and did just that!

A campaign has been started for a general election to be called immediately, I’m not in favour as it’s premature. As things stand, under FPTP, Reform are likely to win. Your Party and Greens need time to get established and formulate a joint strategy!

6 December 2025

Two separate deliveries by Royal Mail today, CBD patches and a new TENS unit which will reduce my need for painkillers. A third delivery by courier was a t-shirt from Just Stop Oil with this image on the front and the washed out version on the back.

7 December 2025

It will be January by the time you read this as I have three blogs lined up for this month. I’ve decided I will not be writing another blog about Your Party, anything I have to say will be out of date by the time I get around to it. Other folk have plenty to say, both positive and negative, and – apart from an occasional remark here – I’ll leave them to get on with it.

8 December 2025

According to a new report in the Financial Times, Tony Blair has been dropped from Donald Trump’s proposed “board of peace” in Gaza after “objections from several Arab and Muslim states”.

9 December 2025

I’m in a lot of pain right now, I think I’ve pulled a muscle in my shoulder. It doesn’t help that I’m out of batteries for my TENS unit. I had a Tesco delivery this morning but, before it arrived, I placed another order for tomorrow.

10 December 2025

Congress are now calling not only for the impeachment of Donald J Trump but for his arrest following the unsealing of legal documents pertaining to his illegal retention of classified documents on national security.

My shoulder pain is much reduced by keeping warm and I’m now able to use TENS.

Someone on Bluesky tried to cajole me into boycotting X, and abandoning all my friends and comrades there, as a matter of principle – she sees it as supporting Musk. She’s forgetting two important principles without which we are insignificant individuals, loyalty and solidarity!

11 December 2025

Last month, Jeremy Corbyn requested an urgent meeting with the Justice Secretary to discuss the wellbeing of his constituent, Amu, who is on hunger strike in prison. Lammy has officially declined the request.

I’ve just changed my electricity account from pay-as-you go to direct debit. It saves me having to go out to the meter in all weather to reconnect after my electricity is cut off because I forgot to check my balance.

Found this on X because I reposted Claudia’s tweet, I stand by what she said ✊ It appears to be based on a post by a writer for the Daily Mail, which is a fair indication of its veracity

Used my personal alarm for the first time, I’m having difficulty getting out of bed because of shoulder pain. I managed without assistance but it’s a recurring problem.

The winner of Eurovision 2024 has returned his award in protest at the inclusion of Israel in Eurovision 2026 ✊

13 December 2025

Nearly 50 MPs have now backed the parliamentary motion calling on the Justice Secretary to engage with the Palestine Action hunger strikers. Via Richard Burgon on X, far right trolls are coming out from under their rocks in droves. Also lots of people attacking socialism who need to check their bank balance to decide whether they’re millionaires or idiots 🙄

Shoulder pain not so bad now but I’m very tired. Could be I’ve had a wee bit too much of a good thing 🥃

15 December 2025

I’ve just learned a shocking history lesson: when Hitler became Chancellor of Germany he was immediately confronted with a boycott of German goods, on top of runaway inflation. The headline is misleading, it was Zionists who saved the 3rd Reich from bankruptcy, it was t’other way around. David Ben-Gurion said he would prefer half as many Jewish children to be evacuated to Israel than were actually evacuated to Britain on the Kinder-transport.

The Deal with the Devil that Saved Zionism from Bankruptcy. https://youtu.be/ZyTjJZsJihI?si=dbHQwtuou6o9Ypfq

16 December 2025

More than 50 MPs and Lords have signed Jeremy Corbyn’s letter urging David Lammy to meet with hunger strikers’ lawyers. Other MPs laughed as a Minister rejected a meeting with the families and legal teams of Palestine Action prisoners who are currently on the seventh week of their hunger strike.

18 December 2025

I’m disgusted at the level of callousness and wilful ignorance on display from Labour MPs, I’m accustomed to the lies they spout in support of Israel but it’s reaching an obscene new level 😠

The most vile troll I’ve ever encountered on X, who has acquired 326 followers in 12 years, is offering a bet on how soon the hunger strikers will die. No point in reporting it, seems anything goes on X now 😠

20 December 2025

Journalist: By any metric, the Israelis are flouting the ceasefire that President Trump negotiated. By killing an average of 2 children a day…

Marco Rubio: Hamas almost injured an Israeli soldier the other day.

21 December 2025

All I want for Christmas is peace on Earth and goodwill to all humanity, a simple request but unlikely to be granted with so many monsters loose in the world!

23 December 2025

Greta Thunberg has just been arrested for opposing genocide outside Aspen Insurance, which underwrites Israeli weapons firm Elbit Systems.

Following a sustained direct action campaign, initiated by Palestine Action before the group was proscribed, Allianz and Aviva no longer insure Elbit Systems, Israel’s largest weapons manufacturer.

24 December 2025

Under new rules, Israel is rejecting NGOs that “delegitimize” (meaning criticize) Israel. Among those barred are Save the Children, one of the best known and oldest in Gaza, where it helps 120,000 children.

25 December 2025

Kamran Ahmed, one of the hunger strikers, has died.

I received an email from my eldest sister, we had fallen out when none of my sisters would give me a lift to attend Mum’s funeral.

27 December 2025

Grassroots group Greater Manchester Friends of Palestine has had their bank account frozen due to ‘Palestine Action investigation’ although it has no affiliation to the direct action group.

28 December 2025

I’ve just been reading about a Canadian startup that is proposing to establish a carbon capture facility in an area with relatively low emissions and sell carbon credits to areas with greater emissions. I’m sure the forest in Manitoba could handle local emissions, carbon credits just allow companies like Microsoft to carry on polluting!

29 December 2025

Today is my 77th birthday, it is also the anniversary of the Massacre at Wounded Knee in 1890. Secretary of War Pete Hegseth refuses to rescind the Congressional Medals of Honour awarded to 20 soldiers of the 7th Cavalry for their ‘bravery’ in murdering mostly unarmed Lakota men, women and children.

30 December 2025

The Israeli government has recognised Caitlin Johnstone’s outstanding work opposing genocide in Gaza by placing her first on a list of key generators of antisemitism in Australia. Yanis Varoufakis and Jonathan Cook have posted their congratulations on this honour.

31 December 2025

The  old year is ended, the new one is yet to begin. I don’t see much prospect of 2026 being significantly better than 2025 although, short of a world war, it’s hard to imagine it being much worse. I’m personally better off than I was 6 months ago, I must study how to use my inheritance wisely.

  1. Thank you Mike for an interesting summary of events in December. I had never heard of Alliance, but was glad to see it being formed. I hope the world will be in a better place this year, but like you I doubt it. A greedy power grabbing madness has overtaken the west. Solidarity and a Happy New Year to you.
