Echosphere II

Why the Echosphere?

This is an occasional blog in which I can share ideas that are not time critical and are too lengthy for a Diary entry but too short for a standalone blog. I’m really talking to myself and those I invite into my personal bubble. I don’t really need to say much about myself, if you’re reading this you probably know a lot about me already 😄

I know several comrades are interested in learning more of my background, and I’ve already published several blogs about the subject I know best – myself! Before I die I hope to put them all in chronological order.

Moving Forward

I’m gradually reducing the number of recurring posts I share, I’m having to be quite ruthless! Due to limitations on the number of posts that X has now imposed on unverified accounts I will in future only use the platform to stay in touch with old friends. My posts can only be seen by followers anyway but it’s difficult to avoid some obnoxious comments on other people’s posts.

I’ve remarked before that writing a blog requires me to do a lot reading, and I usually I share what I read, but I think I need to be more selective. This isn’t easy if you read beyond the headline, many don’t! I need to be more selective in my reading, but that’s not easy if I want to go beyond the headlines.

The following are some topics I’ve written about and would like to pursue further.

Indigenous Affairs

I’ve posted some articles on Native American matters that were published in Critical Mass magazine. These articles are no longer available as the site has closed down. I can put together the first one from the three parts that I sent to Dave Middleton, who put them together and added a useful comment. It also got a great response from Chris Williamson.

I think this would be a good place to start for future work on this subject, and others. Dave suggested that it doesn’tmatter if others are talking about the same subject, I have my own unique voice. How I write depends on who I’m writing for, myself or others. It’s basically the former, which is why I’m writing more autobiographical work.

New anthems

We need a new national anthem, several in fact, for when the United Kingdom is neither united nor a kingdom. Scotland, Wales and Cornwall have theirs, the North of England need one too. I mean all of England north of the Wash and the Mersey.

Iran

One high precision missile that hits a girl’s when aimed at a nearby military base could be a mistake for which the commander of the force responsible should be removed from duties!

A second strike goes beyond error, if these missiles are as precise as is claimed there should be no possibility of a second error.

One strike can be passed off as an unfortunate error. The second can be called, at best, criminal negligence. A third strike can only be described as Mass Murder 😠

Three US servicemen (so far) have been killed and five injured, but not sufficiently to prevent them from returning to duty. I have no sympathy for their families when I consider the 150 schoolgirls killed. If you join the military you expect your life to be in danger, but children should be able to attend school without that expectation 😠

Nobel Peace Prize

For a second year running a petition is running addressed to all those eligible to nominate a candidate to nominate Francesca Albanese. I won’t be endorsing the the petition although I believe she’s more deserving than anyone for two reasons.

  • Nominations closed in January, if she hasn’t already been nominated it’s too late!
  • Last year’s award, to someone advocating for a US attack on her own country, brought the prize into disrepute.

Nothing would please me more than for Francesca Albanese to be awarded the prize, and decline it as being worthless. This what I wrote on the same subject last year.
