Mike’s Diary 1 – 7 November

Sunday 1 November

A woman has been arrested outside the US Embassy in London for holding a sign displaying the words of Sarah Helm, wife of the National Security Advisor, which the Met Police declared “did not meet the criminal threshold”.

Swedish climate academic Andreas Malm has been blocked from entering Britain where he was due to speak at an event alongside Palestine Action co-founder Huda Ammori.

Monday 2 November

Early this morning, People Against Genocide broke into Ultra I&C’s Hertfordshire weapons facility and smash Israeli military satellites, on the 109th anniversary of the Balfour Declaration. Ultra Intelligence & Communications (I&C) specialise in “AI missions” and “battlefield communications systems”, syncing Israeli weapons with command centres. The firm supplies Israeli weapons firm Elbit Systems. Via Prisoners for Palestine.

One thing we can learn from the US midterms is that the Many can beat the Money if we’re organised! ✊

A record turnout of Palestinian/Israeli voters resulted in Netenyahu’s party being the largest minority party. Neither Netenyahu nor the opposition can form a majority government without support of the Palestinian/Israeli bloc, which neither will countenance. We’ll have to wait and see how this plays out, it’s not particularly encouraging!

I had an email from the regional coordinator on NY&H Greens about the Zionism is Racist motion. I sent him my blogpost on the subject and he replied “I have now read your thoughtful blog post. And I agree with what it has to say.”

Thursday 5 November

While Craig Murray was in the Supreme Court for the Palestine Action appeal the door of his hotel room was forced and the jamb spilt apart. Nothing was taken, although there was £180 cash on the table.

When the hearing closed for the day he and others walked to the Westminster Arms for a quick pint. When we they got there he asked “where’s Matt?” He had been arrested on the way for saying, “In the UK, it’s a crime to say, [pause] I support Palestine Action”. It was the length of the pause that prompted his arrest! From the absurd to the ridiculous 🙄

JD Vance seems to be distancing himself from Trump after the midterms, no doubt with an eye of having a shot at the presidency in 2028.

Saturday 7 November

Israeli President Isaac Herzog has invited Gadi Eisenkot to form a government following an inconclusive election. Bye, bye Bibi baby 👋

I just had a bad night, fell out of bed and had to make myself as comfortable as possible on the floor for a couple of hours until paramedics arrived to help me up. I’ve two blogposts in the works but there’s no chance of finishing either of them today so I’m sharing this one, even though it’s quite short.
