The Israeli Ambassador was kicked out of the United Nations General Assembly for disrupting the session while the Iranian delegate was speaking.
The Football Association of Ireland has voted to go ahead with its fixtures against Israel to be played in Hungary and Serbia. The Irish players will wear black armbands to protest the genocide while their goalkeeper will boycott the matches entirely.

Several men have been arrested after an explosives incident near RAF Faiford, which is used by the US Airforce for its attacks on Iran. Counter-terrorism police are investigating the incident.

Israel has revoked the status of Dutch diplomats over sanctions on illegal settlements.
Israel is going crazy after losing 0-3 to Ireland in the first of two UEFA matches. Irish players wore black armbands, refused to shake hands or exchange shirts with their opponents, and kept their heads bowed while the Israeli national anthem was played. Meanwhile, Israeli fans were continually chanting “IDF, IDF”. The irony is that the result would’ve been reversed if Ireland had boycotted the game.
Once a proponent of tougher limits on the gambling industry, [Tom Watson] went on to take a paid advisory position with Flutter Entertainment, owner of Paddy Power, Betfair and Sky Bet. But today, Watson has sunk to new lows by taking a senior role at Palantir, the US tech firm at the centre of the US surveillance state. Watson says he has been hired to “correct false information” about Palantir. In other words, he’ll be hitting back at critics of the company’s contracts with the UK public sector.

94-year-old human rights barrister Margaret Owen OBE could qualify for the Guinness Book of Records Britain’s oldest alleged terrorist after being one of 230 protesters arrested at the Labour Party Conference for holding up signs saying “I support Palestine Action, Free Palestine.” Burnham hasn’t commented on the absurd ban since he became Prime Minister despite the TUC and more than 70% Labour party members opposing it.
Wael Naouar, a Palestinian rights activist imprisoned in Tunis for helping organise the 2025 Global Sumud Flotilla, is than five weeks into his hunger strike, he’s in a semi-conscious state and on the brink of death. Three other activists imprisoned alongside Naouar have also joined his hunger strike.

As part of his first speech as Prime Minister at Labour conference in Liverpool, Andy Burnham announced his plans for a National Commission on Electoral Reform
We will contest the next election with a manifesto commitment to change the electoral system, so that everyone’s vote counts and everyone’s voice is heard. Today I am announcing a new National Commission on Electoral Reform. I invite all the political parties to part of its work.
It will be a “manifesto commitment”, which means it will not happen until after the next general election when he may no longer be in a position to implement it!

When Brenda Puech was elected to Hackney Council as a Green Party councillor, her official portrait featured her wearing a keffiyeh. When UK Lawyers for Israel complained that the photograph was offensive and demanded its immediate removal, Hackney Council took the image down within 15 minutes informing Puech or the Green Party.
A third Diary post in three weeks (and quite a short one) as I’m still unable to focus on what I want to write about, although my feet and legs are showing signs of recovery. I hope to have more to say about Burnham’s Conference Speech and the Fairford Fiasco, which are not unrelated given that the latter is once again being investigated as a terrorist attack at Trump’s behest. Burnham’s speech has had a mixed reception, some people think it’s the bee’s knees but I’m more sceptical.
