The Fairford Fiasco and Burnham’s Conference Speech

The incident at RAF Fairford was initially investigated as a terrorist incident linked to Iran, downgraded to a criminal investigation for lack of evidence of a terrorist connection, then reversed at the behest of the US government who subsequently withdrew their bombers anyway! Which leaves a lot of questions unanswered

Was it a badly executed false flag? If so, what was its purpose? It was originally reported as an explosive incident, but the vehicles contained only one barrel of petrol and three empty barrels – just what one would expect to find in vehicles marked with the insignia of a legitimate fuel distribution company!

It appears that one of those involved reported it before the farmer who came across them when they were apparently hanging around waiting to be arrested. The whole business makes no sense. (I won’t even go into the FlyDubai nonsense, that’s fantasy land)

Burnham had nothing to say about the incident in his speech but he sees Russia and Iran as threats, which shows his susceptibility to US/NATO propaganda. Also nothing about Gaza: Palestine Action is still proscribed, despite Ed Miliband’s declaration that Labour had got it wrong, and we’re still supplying arms to Israel

If you want to watch the speech in full you can do so here https://youtu.be/gT6b9Opy69E?is=u-nfph3MEjBMykaU but here are a few salient points

  • Water: mayors given greater powers of control, not public ownership, and expected to take 10 years to come fully into effect.
  • No VAT on electricity with immediate effect.
  • Sticking to fiscal rules
  • Investing in people to help them back to work and reform of social care.
  • Pension triple-lock – I can’t understand what he’s waffling on about!
  • Be innovative in AI while ensuring our safety.
  • Opposed to independence for Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland
  • Considering UK’s relationship with the EU, especially with regard to immigration.
  • Still using ‘stop the boats’ rhetoric and retaining Shabana Mahmood as Home Secretary.

While there are a few positives, most won’t come into effect until after the next general election when it may be too late. What we need is less rhetoric and more action!
